Eligible countries
The current list contains 17 countries: Bangladesh, The Gambia, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Togo, Tuvalu, Uganda and Zambia. Kenya is not on this cycle’s list.
Study and academic conditions
Support is for 36 months of full-time doctoral study beginning in September or October 2027. Four-year PhDs are not supported. The usual academic requirement is a 2:1 degree, or a lower-second degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification. Further citizenship, residence, financial-need and prior-doctoral-study restrictions apply.
Prepare the application
Follow the CSC and approved-nominator process. Obtain the required supervisor support and supporting documents. Read the official current rules for funding, exclusions and family contributions; do not assume every family cost is covered.
