Stipend and fee offset scholarships
For eligible recipients, the University publishes:
- full fee offset for up to two years for a Masters by Research or up to four years for a doctoral degree;

- a relocation grant of AUD $2,000 for students moving from outside Victoria or AUD $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia;

Fee offset scholarships
The University also lists fee-offset-only scholarships. These provide the applicable full fee offset but do not automatically include every stipend-and-fee-offset benefit.
Eligibility and Selection
To be considered, you must have applied for and meet the requirements for a University of Melbourne graduate research degree, or be currently enrolled in one.
The University says stipend-and-fee-offset scholarships are offered to eligible candidates ranked highest by the relevant selection panels on prior-study academic results and research potential.

How Automatic Consideration Works
New students do not submit a separate application for this scholarship. If you apply for a graduate research course by that course's closing date, the University says you will be automatically considered and should receive notification within ten business days that scholarship consideration has been added to your record.
International applicants should check the course page for application dates, entry requirements and documents. The University says courses may have different closing dates and that requirements can include academic history, professional experience, prerequisites, selection tasks and English-language requirements.
All graduate research applications are submitted directly to the University through its online application portal. At a minimum, the University says international applicants need academic transcripts and a CV, alongside other documentation required by the course page.
