Eligibility points to check
Applicants need eligible citizenship or protected/refugee status and permanent residence in an eligible Commonwealth country. The academic requirement is normally a 2:1 degree, or a lower-second degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification. Work experience does not replace this qualification.
Candidates must be unable to fund UK study, meet the restriction on prior study or work of one academic year or more in a high-income country, and commit to returning home. Check the provider’s country list and current conditions.
Application and funding
Apply separately for an approved university course and through the CSC system when it opens. Confirm the 2027–2028 financial package and university deadlines on the official planning page; older stipend figures are not a confirmed future award.
